About Me

decrease in cesarean

Jenai was born and raised in Colorado and is so proud to call this state home. Her and her husband Josh are college sweethearts and they both connect over their love for Jesus, a good cup of coffee, traveling overseas, and exploring the outdoors by hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and snowboarding. Jenai's highest calling is being a mom to her two boys, Ever (22 months) and Ezra (3 months). She loves seeing the world through their eyes and plans to homeschool. In her spare time, she loves nurturing a beautiful home, baking all things sourdough and pastry related, learning about natural wellness, going to brunch, and connecting with friends. Jenai loves getting to know people on a deep level and is extremely hospitable. She will take the time to listen, pray, offer advice, and serve. Being a doula is unique and sweet because it allows Jenai to utilize what she is already gifted at and bring that into the birth space of families she supports.

Jenai is incredibly passionate about helping families during their most special, vulnerable, and life-changing moments. Welcoming a new member into their family should be an event that they look back on and cherish. It is her honor and joy to be invited into those spaces with them. Jenai is thrilled you are here. She is a Birth Boot Camp certified birth doula in Fort Collins, Colorado. She serves growing families in Fort Collins, Cheyenne, Wellington, Johnstown, Berthoud, Longmont, Erie, and surrounding areas. She has supported mamas in several different settings – hospital births (both vaginal and cesarean), home births, and birth center births, as well as mamas who are high risk or who are desiring a VBAC. However, she specifically specializes in unmedicated birth both in and out of the hospital, and loves to look at birth with a holistic mindset. She is also trained in Spinning Babies techniques, aromatherapy, and the TENS unit for pain management.

Becoming a doula transpired after the birth of my two boys (any other boy moms out there?). I got to experience first-hand the gift of having a doula at both of my births and it is something that quickly became priceless to me. My doula gave me a passion for physiological birth and helped me see that birth is such a natural and beautiful process. Both of my births were different from one another – one was a forty hour long birth center birth turned hospital induction and the other one was a planned home birth. During each of my births, I felt seen, informed, educated, confident, safe, at peace, and supported. Not only me, but my husband, too. I look back on my birth experiences and can confidently say that my doula added so much positivity and value. It wouldn’t have been the same without her. Since then, I have learned so much about the process of birth and how God designed it. Learning became a passion and passion quickly became a calling. My clients are like family to me and I am in disbelief that I get to support them in the same ways I felt supported during my births. I truly have the most amazing job ever.

Why did I become a doula?

What is my favorite part about being a doula?

As I have learned more about the process of birth, I have quickly come to realize that birth does not often play out in the ways it is most often depicted. It can be different – and as a matter of fact, it should be. Birth does not have to be scary. Birth does not require you to lose control. Birth is not something that happens to you, but it can be something that can strengthen you, make you feel your most beautiful, and transform you into a different person than you were a moment before. I love seeing birth unite families as they work together to welcome their precious baby into the world, and the joy that comes as a result of the outcome. It is the most humbling experience to walk alongside someone in those moments where you see new life being brought forth. Helping families achieve a positive, empowering, joyful birth is my absolute favorite part of being a doula.

What does a doula do?

A birth doula is to provide physical, emotional, and informational support, as well as advocacy during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. It is also a priority to focus on the peace and comfort of your environment and to help you feel the most relaxed, safe, and reassured as possible. Though a doula does not speak for you or make decisions for you, she can take the time to inform you of all risks and benefits, she can listen and understand your desires, fears, and set backs, and she can implement suggestions that would help your birth progress in a way that is positive for mom, dad, and baby. As well as this, our doula  services include postpartum support which includes advice on proper nourishment, rest, breastfeeding, healing, and bonding.
